Trades Awards 2016 Finalists Announced

An independent panel of judges this week announced the finalists of the fourth annual North-east Trades Awards, after receiving the highest number of applications to date. The awards, which are once again sponsored by Stewart Milne Group, aim to reward and recognise excellence within the North-east trades and construction industry, with everyone from sole traders to national homebuilders invited to take part.

Launched in 2013, Trades Awards has grown significantly year on year, with more than double the number of applications submitted in 2016, compared to 2015. This year the ceremony takes place on 10th June at Ardoe House and is now the largest construction dinner in the North-east, whilst continuing to be the only event of its kind in Scotland, welcoming TV personality and builder, Tommy Walsh as the first ever guest speaker.

Darren Ross, Director at Xcite Media said “We are delighted that the number of applications for Trades Awards has grown significantly for a fourth year in a row. When we launched the event in 2013, it was the first of its kind, and the team had to work hard to create awareness of the awards and the associated benefits of taking part. For that reason, we are delighted to see local businesses now use Trades Awards as a platform to share their success stories, hard work and expertise with colleagues and industry peers.

The Trades Awards judges have had an extremely difficult task shortlisting for each category, and collectively we would like to take this opportunity to thank each and every applicant for their time and efforts. We would also like to congratulate those who have been shortlisted as Trades Awards 2016 finalists, and look forward to finding out more about your business before announcing the winners on Friday 10th June!”

Neil Thomson, Construction Director of Stewart Milne Homes North says “It is a real honour to be involved with Trades Awards for a second year, and to once again sit on the judging panel. The quality and quantity of applications has increased for a fourth year, and it was clear to all of the judges that there is remarkable talent, commitment and passion in the North-east of Scotland. We can already feel the sense of excitement building for Trades Awards 2016, which has now become a key event in the industry calendar, and look forward to celebrating the very best of the North-east’s trades talent on the 10th June”
