Trades Awards entry deadline extended due to record-breaking demand
Due to record-breaking demand, Xcite Media Ltd has extended the entry deadline from today (Friday 27thFebruary) to noon on Friday, 6th March, giving trades businesses an extra chance to receive recognition for their work.
This extension comes after the panel of thirteen independent judges revealed that interest in the Stewart Milne Group sponsored event has grown to the highest since the awards were launched in 2013.
Darren Ross, operations director at Xcite Media Ltd comments, “The response to the Trades Awards this year has been phenomenal, with many more entries than we have had previously. I believe this could in some way be a positive reflection of the current construction industry climate, which is expected to grow by an anticipated 23% by the end of 2018. Many companies are actively recruiting for trades personnel to keep up with what is a thriving industry – and something that sometimes gets overlooked in our region. The sector currently provides jobs for over 300,000 people across the UK, with over 20,000 companies turning over tens of billions every year.
“This new deadline date will give companies who have been busy during this positive upturn a bit more time to hone their submissions; or to nominate a trades person who has stepped up in a time where growth is high and work is coming in fast.
“The reason we launched these awards was to recognise the fantastic achievements of these businesses big or small; and to showcase the exceptional talent, service and knowledge tradespersons of the North-East have to offer. We therefore want to ensure more people get that chance, and I can’t wait to hear the fantastic stories that this year brings.”
Stewart Milne, Executive Chairman of Stewart Milne Group says: “We are delighted to support this event. Our skilled trades people are a crucial part of our business and with significant growth in house building, it’s a great time to have a trade. We’re currently recruiting for over 200 skilled trades so there are plenty of opportunities. Tradespeople are highly skilled and highly valued by us. They have a critical role to play as our group prepares to significantly increase in size. Recognising them in this way is an honour.”
It is free to submit nominations to the Trades Awards, with twelve award categories open for entries. Each applicant is eligible to enter a maximum of three categories each and each award winner will be selected by an independent panel of judges, with winners announced on Friday, 12th June 2015.
