Finalist Spotlight: WB Jamieson
WB Jamieson has been part of the Trades Awards for the past couple of years. However, the 2019 ceremony marks a very special year for the interior design company as it is shortlisted for three awards. We spoke to Marketing and Web Coordinator, Darren Seymour, about the awards and the reasons behind their shortlisting.
Congratulations to Team WB Jamieson – you’re up for 3 awards! Any particular award you’d most like to take home on the night?
“That’s like choosing a favourite child – you can’t do it! It would be fantastic to win any one of the awards but it’s definitely special to be shortlisted in three categories. Each category reflects areas of importance to us as a business and as a team. The Home/Building Improvement: Interior award reflects our expertise and creative design skills, the Customer Service award focusses on the relationships we’ve built with our customers, which is absolutely crucial to business success, and Best Trades Business: 11+ recognises the exceptional team we have – we couldn’t achieve the results we do without them!”
It’s clear to see that your customers drive your business and this has led to you being a finalist in the Customer Service category. What does outstanding customer service look like to you?
“It’s about treating clients as people, as individuals with unique needs. It’s about creating a great relationship built on openness and honesty and behaving in a friendly, professional, reliable manner that builds genuine trust. It’s about practical steps – keeping in touch, updating customers and problem-solving with them, when necessary. It’s establishing a rapport which makes clients comfortable to ask any question about their project, to double, or triple, check things, without hesitation, because that’s what will put their mind at ease. Outstanding customer service is going the extra mile – always.”
That’s great to hear. And I’m sure that building these trusting relationships has led to some big highlights.
“Definitely. It goes without saying that one of our Fitters, Jason Ironside, winning Tradesperson of the Year 2018 at the Trades Awards last year was a huge highlight for us! Beyond that, other highlights would be . . . not missing a deadline – we never do and never will, but this takes a lot of hard work, juggling and bending over backwards! It’s what we do – all the time – but it’s a huge achievement that can go unnoticed when it’s ‘the norm’, especially at ‘peak’ times, eg run-up to the festive holidays when time constraints put us under even more pressure. As for a particular project, our flooring installation in an arts and crafts home was a big highlight – using a woven-to-order, specialist flooring material fitted using traditional methods involving folding the carpet to achieve a perfect result and a delighted customer. This was something unique and unusual that showcased our design expertise, product knowledge and fitting skills.”
